carpet cleaningIn a house with children, chewing-gum dropped on a carpet is a common picture. It’s not a beautiful one, though. Stuck in the rug’s fibres, the chewing-gum makes it look like it’s good for nothing.

Of course, if you know how to treat it, you can manage to remove it. Experts from carpet cleaning company in London offer a very easy method for removing chewing-gum from textile surfaces. Here it is:

Take a newspaper and put it on the spot. Turn your iron on, let it heat up and iron the newspaper. The gum will automatically transfer to it and your carpet will be clean again. This is the most effective and fast way to deal with this issue.

On the Internet you can find a lot of other tips on this problem. They are not all useful, though. For example:

  • Some articles say that you have switch on your hairdryer and heat up the gum. Then you have to start picking it up with tweezers. This method is total nonsense. It not only takes a lot of time and efforts, but you may spread the spot wider.
  • Another stupidity is to put peanut butter on the chewing-gum. They say that it softens it and you have to pick it with tweezers again. Well, in my opinion you will only make things worse, if you do that, because the peanut butter will leave greasy stains on your flooring.
  • An effective method, although very time-consuming, might be to freeze the gum with ice cubes and to pick it with tweezers or with your fingers.

Do not trust everything you read on the Internet. Use carpet cleaning tips only from proven sources, such as cleaning companies. They know what they are talking and doing.
